Creator-based® Capacity

Image
It’s hot and approaching August, summer’s “dog days.”  How are you feeling? Like your tank is filled up and ready for fall? Maybe a little irritated with kids or the heat?  Do you feel like you might need to increase the capacity of your tank a little?  Creating and increasing our capacity is not hard.   It simply requires that we try, and of course that we do. One of my favorite creative processes utilizes the power of remembering. Yes, remembering is an act of creation and can increase capacity in many ways. It goes like this-   Remember when you did something grand before?  Remember that day you rose above your own selfish or petty desires and were kind, articulate, brave, or assertive?   Remember how success felt? You can do that again- only better. You know more now than you did then.   You have more experience and more learning under your belt. Why wouldn’t you be able to do this? The power of remembering boosts ...

Creator-based® Collections

When I was a little girl, I had a bottle cap collection.   My older sister’s boyfriend had collected literally hundreds of different bottle caps and then lost interest.   You know, the kind from a glass soda bottle you have to take off with a bottle opener? It was cool because it was his, and I was only 11. I was the happy recipient of his collection and continued to add to it as I grew older.   Eventually, those bottle caps filled a small trash can- a decorator can, of course, and I was proud of it…..for a while…….and then I discovered boys, make-up, music, started dating, and couldn’t tell you where it ended up.   Last I saw it; it was in the basement.   That’s the way with many collections. We collect photographs of our family.   I have many photo albums, and I treasure them.   Some collections are truly precious.   One of my favorite photo albums is the very first one I made.   It was a gift for my husband, a memory of our time tog...

Creator-based® Connections

Image
A few years ago, I rolled my ankle the week before Christmas.   I rolled it so hard I thought I may have broken it, but it only hurt like it was broken.   However, it would not bear any weight without excruciating (and no, I am not being overly dramatic) pain.   It really hurt! And…. it was the week before Christmas! I had so much to do! There were cookies to bake, parties to prepare, gifts to wrap, and service to give.   I was stuck on the couch with an elevated, iced foot.   I then realized the true gift of having a body with all parts working together to help me accomplish my goals.   It was a personalized Christmas gift just for me. What is more, it seemed like since my ankle hurt, my leg was sore.   And with a painful leg, my back hurt. I even wondered if that back pain was contributing to my pre-Christmas headache.   Who knew that an ankle could be so significant and affect so much? It’s because of connections. Have you ever heard tha...

Creator-based® Culmination

Image
Creator-based Culmination As Americans, we are well known as doers, constantly seeking, striving, and doing more.   We strive to get more, be more, and arrive at more.   We push forward to our self-appointed ultimate life culmination. Often we are disappointed in our   culminating “dream destination of arrival.” Do you have a dream point of arrival? A new house, kids in school, a dress size, paycheck amount, or work goal/dream?   One of my dream points was to wear a size 8.  I was a chubby kid who grew into an overweight adult and ultimately, a Big Momma.   I just knew that if I was a size 8, I would feel loved, cherished, successful, and happy in everything.  Everyone would love me. It was a significant dream point for me. I also had dream points of arrival of “when my kids are successful adults,” “when the garden is bountiful,” “When I graduate,” “when I have 1000 subscribers,” when the…… yadda yadda yadda…   Yeah, we’re there too. Af...
